Your community voice on Council
Founded in 2020, Georges River Residents & Ratepayers Party is a local government registered political party.
Our group formed out of a common interest, of fighting for fairness, equity and transparency on Council. None of us came from political backgrounds.
At the 2021 Local Government elections, we had 4 of our candidates elected as Georges River Councillors. They are Christina Jamieson (Mortdale Ward), Peter Mahoney (Peakhurst Ward), Natalie Mort (Blakehurst Ward) and Elise Borg (Kogarah Bay Ward).
At the 2024 Local Government elections, our 4 Councillors were re-elected and we were successful in increasing our presence on Council with Matt Allison (Peakhurst Ward) being elected for the first time. In October 2024, Elise Borg was elected Mayor of Georges River Council.
As a registered political party at the local level, our unwavering focus is solely on Georges River. With this dedication, we possess the autonomy to prioritise decisions that serve the best interests of the Georges River community, a responsibility we proudly uphold.
