The positive changes we’ve delivered to Council
GRRRP have delivered a positive change to Georges River Council. We have built strong relationships with fellow councillors and the new administrative management at Council, which helps foster better outcomes for the community.
With these strong relationships and the community at the centre of our decision-making, we are proud of the following achievements since we have been elected.
Our achievements
-
Carss Park Pool
Council is committed to rebuilding Carss Park Pool on the current site. The project is underway, with demolition in progress and the State Government delivering the business case and design component of the project via the NSW Office of Sport.
After many years of leading the community campaign to rebuild the pool, we remained steadfast as elected representatives, leading the campaign on Council and working with the State Government to reach this milestone decision.
-
New Foreshore & Biodiversity Controls
Council endorsed the new Biodiversity & Character Planning Proposal which reinforces and enhances environmental protection measures within our foreshore areas.
This was a major victory for the community and the environment and one that GRRRP took the lead on in Council and we were proud to have helped shape the outcome. These new controls reflect a successful and collaborative effort between Councillors, local residents, and Council’s expert planners.
-
Beverley Park Golf Club re-embraces the community and ditches fence project
Beverley Park Golf Club, now under fresh leadership and a new board, has declared its decision to abandon plans for the golf course perimeter fence. Additionally, the club has proactively initiated efforts to re-engage with the local community, fostering harmonious relationships.
GRRRP spearheaded the campaign against the perimeter fence and is now dedicated to sustaining positive relations among the club, council, and community, so that the Beverley Park Golf Club is once again the social hub of Beverley Park.
-
Reshaped the Mortdale Masterplan
With the support of the community, GRRRP successfully reshaped the Mortdale Masterplan to one that was more acceptable to the Mortdale community.
The endorsed Mortdale Masterplan is hugely scaled back from the originally exhibited masterplan, which if implemented would have destroyed the village atmosphere of Mortdale.
GRRRP led the campaign on Council on behalf of the community to achieve this outcome and we continue to fight for the Mortdale residents to save the village atmosphere and achieve better traffic and parking outcomes.

Guiding the Way: Leadership Positions on Council
GRRRP have formed positive relationships with fellow Councillors from both major parties to achieve the best outcomes for our community.
These positive relationships resulted in Councillor Elise Borg being elected Deputy Mayor in September 2023, a pivotal role in council's leadership team.
Our GRRRP team also holds the following leadership positions on Council;
Environment & Planning Chairperson: Councillor Peter Mahoney
Finance & Governance Chairperson: Councillor Christina Jamieson
Councillor delegate to Georges Riverkeeper - Georges River Combined Councils Committee (GRCCC): Councillor Peter Mahoney
Councillor delegate to NSW Public Libraries Association: Councillor Natalie Mort
Councillor delegate to Canterbury-Bankstown/Georges River Bushfire Management Committee: Councillor Peter Mahoney
As new representatives on Council, it is a significant achievement for our team to hold these leadership positions, which is reflective of the positive change we have brought to Council, working collaboratively with all councillors and administration.
