Natalie Mort
Blakehurst Ward Councillor of Georges River Council
Natalie will continue to fight for the interests of Blakehurst Ward
Since she has been elected to Council, Natalie has fought for the best interests of Blakehurst Ward residents. She will fight for what is fair and right for the community.
Meet Natalie
Natalie was elected to Georges River Council in December 2021. She has been a member of the Community and Culture Committee and Assets and Infrastructure Committee since she was elected. She is also the Councillor delegate to the NSW Public Libraries Association.
She is extremely passionate and very determined to ensure residents of Blakehurst Ward get to live in an area of Georges River Council that offers a terrific lifestyle and opportunities for young people to chase their sporting and professional goals.
Prior to her election to Council, Natalie worked tirelessly campaigning to rebuild Carss Park Pool, including getting 11,700 signatures on a petition and over 2000 pledges from sporting and business leaders to rebuild the pool. She has continued the fight for the pool in her role as Councillor, and can’t wait to take the first dive in the pool when it is rebuilt.
Natalie is one of 14 children from Dublin, Ireland. She has lived in Sydney for 44 years and in Blakehurst Ward for the past 42 years with her husband and two children.
The positive change Natalie has delivered to Georges River Council
Carss Park Pool
Natalie was one of the original campaigners fighting to save Carss Park Pool, having learnt to swim there herself as a young adult when her two kids learnt to swim there.
Since being elected, Natalie’s staunch determination for the rebuilding of Carss Park Pool has been unwavering. She is delighted that Council has committed to rebuild the pool on its current site and that the NSW State Government is working with Council on the first phase of the new pool, being the business case for funding and designs.
Oatley to Como Cycle and Pathway
Natalie has persistently urged State Authorities to prioritise urgent short-term safety improvements for the Oatley to Como pathway. These upgrades include removing built-up soil and vegetation, repairing the bitumen surface, and fixing fencing, all of which are crucial for the thousands of cyclists and pedestrians who use the pathway daily.
She has also called on the State Government to fund a long-term upgrade, including land stabilisation between the pathway and the railway line. If re-elected, Natalie will continue to advocate for these essential improvements to the State Government.

Revitalising Council’s branch libraries
One of Natalie’s election pledges was to retain Council’s branch libraries in South Hurstville, Oatley and Penshurst.
Natalie was instrumental in fighting for the reinstatement of pre-Covid opening hours at these libraries. Additionally, she supported the motion and secured funding for Council to conduct a feasibility study aimed at revitalising these libraries and increasing visitation and programs.
Safer pedestrian passage at Mater Dei Primary School
Natalie has been at the forefront of facilitating collaboration between parents, the Principal of Mater Dei Primary School, and Council’s expert traffic engineers to enhance pedestrian safety around Mater Dei Catholic Primary School.
She has urged the State Government to fund a pedestrian overpass bridge over King Georges Road to support this initiative. If re-elected, Natalie will continue to advocate for this cause.

Fighting illegal advertising signage
Natalie has campaigned for the removal of illegal signage that has reached epidemic proportions across the Georges River local government area.
Illegal signs continue to be erected on telegraph poles, billboards, trees and various other public spaces and Natalie called on Council officers to do a blitz on these illegal signs and for an education program to prevent more offending.
