Christina Jamieson

Mortdale Ward Councillor of Georges River Council

Christina will continue to fight for the interests of Mortdale Ward.

Since she has been elected to Council, Christina has fought for the best interests of Mortdale Ward residents. She will fight for what is fair and right for the community.

Meet Christina

Christina was elected to Georges River Council in December 2021, with a key objective of protecting Mortdale village. She serves on the Environment and Planning Committee and the Finance and Governance Committee, becoming Chair of the latter in September 2023.

A lifelong resident of the St. George area, Christina has lived in Mortdale for 25 years. She is dedicated to ensuring that community concerns are central to Council decisions, advocating for fairness, accountability, and the responsible use of ratepayers' funds.

Christina’s commitment to the community is evident in her active roles as Vice-President of Mortdale Public School P&C and President of Georges River College Peakhurst High P&C. She is married and a mother of three boys who attend these schools, and she strives to provide them and other local children with the best opportunities through school and Council facilities.

With a degree in Mechanical Engineering and senior management experience in multinational companies, Christina runs a successful mortgage broking and asset management company and is passionate about educating people in home ownership. She prioritises transparency and fairness for families in all Council dealings.

The positive change Christina has delivered to Georges River Council

Reshaped the Mortdale Masterplan

With strong community support, Christina successfully led the Council debate to reshape the Mortdale Masterplan into one that better suits the Mortdale community. The endorsed plan is significantly scaled back from the original, which would have destroyed Mortdale's village atmosphere.

Despite facing many pressures, Christina, backed by TeamGRRRP, spearheaded the campaign on Council to achieve this outcome. She continues to fight for Mortdale residents, aiming to preserve the village atmosphere and improve traffic and parking conditions.

Penshurst Beautification

Christina has championed the beautification of Penshurst Local Centre. She has called for a comprehensive Public Domain Plan to deliver significant streetscape and safety enhancements, including improvements to pedestrian infrastructure, recognition of the suburb’s heritage, and new safety measures such as pedestrian crossings, street fencing, and lighting.

Christina also supports the Project Penshurst 2222 groups vision of adding greenery, upgrading open spaces, enhancing the aesthetics of public buildings and gardens, and improving street furniture.

If re-elected Christina will continue to fight for Penshurst to get its fair share of funding to create a safer, more attractive, and welcoming environment for the Penshurst community.

Certification campaign

Christina has been a strong advocate on Council for improving the process of Private Certification and Complying Development Certificates (CDCs). Her efforts led the Council to launch a campaign lobbying the NSW Government for legislative changes to enhance these processes and outcomes, as well as developing a detailed Private Certifier Policy.

Christina extended the campaign by submitting a motion at the Local Government NSW Conference, which passed without dissent, urging LGNSW to lobby the State Government for improvements to the Private Certification Process. Her proposals include empowering councils to act against infringements, increasing penalties for non-compliance, providing Complying Development Certificate applications to neighbours, and allowing the public 14 days' notice to lodge objections.
