To Georges River Council,

I am writing to express my strong support for the Biodiversity and Foreshore Planning Proposal and associated Development Control Plan (DCP) amendments currently on public exhibition.

I strongly support the proposed changes to the Georges River Local Environmental Plan (LEP) and Development Control Plan, which aim to protect biodiversity, enhance foreshore scenic character, and retain the unique local character of our area.

As a resident/community member, I deeply value the green, leafy character of Georges River — including our tree canopy, bushland, and foreshore environments. These natural qualities are fundamental to our lifestyle and are a key reason why people choose to live in this area.

I support the key measures outlined in the proposal, including:

  • Strengthening biodiversity protections through mapping and planning controls

  • Enhancing the Foreshore Scenic Protection Area

  • Improving landscaped area requirements and tree canopy retention

  • Ensuring appropriate lot sizes and built form outcomes that protect environmental values particularly in Oatley West, Mortdale Heights, Peakhurst Heights and Lugarno

  • Introducing controls that better reflect and protect local character

These changes reflect years of community consultation and clearly respond to the consistent message from residents to protect the natural environment and green character of Georges River for current and future generations.

It is important that these protections are put in place now to safeguard our local environment while ensuring thoughtful and balanced planning outcomes.

I encourage Council to proceed with and implement the proposed planning controls.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback.

Kind regards,
