Elise Borg

Your genuine community candidate for the Kogarah Bay Ward

Elise Borg

Elise will fight for the interests of the Kogarah Bay Ward

If elected to Council, Elise will use her voice on Council to continue fighting for the interests of Kogarah Bay residents. She is not a politician, but has a strong sense of doing what is fair and right for the community.

Meet Elise

Elise has been disappointed with many of the decisions of Georges River Council and believes change is needed to achieve better outcomes for the community. The community’s voice has been ignored on too many issues; including Beverley Park Golf Course Fence, Carss Park Pool closure, car-park sell-offs, continued upzoning just to name a few. She believes we need true community-minded locals for a better council.

That’s why Elise is standing for the Georges River Residents and Ratepayers party in the Kogarah Bay Ward.

Elise lives in Beverley Park and has three kids who attend primary school in Kogarah. Her working life has been in the corporate world of advertising and marketing.

When she’s not racing her kids around to football, Oztag, tennis, swimming or gymnastics, Elise is keeping Council honest, leading the campaigns to Save Carss Park Pool and stop the fence around Beverley Park Golf Course.

Elise stood up for democracy and fought for the public’s right to be able to continue to address Councillors in the Public Forums of Council meetings. She also raised the alarm and fought to stop local car parks from being sold off.

Elise is proud to carry on the work of many community advocates before her in her role as the Honorary Secretary of the Kogarah Bay Progress Association, who celebrate their centenary in 2021.

The issues I will fight for in Kogarah Bay Ward

No Beverley Park Golf Course Fence

No Beverley Park Golf Course Fence.

Elise has led the campaign against a 2.1m perimeter security around Beverley Park Golf Course for 3 years.

Although the development application for this fence was approved in Land and Environment Court conciliations between Georges River Council and the Beverley Park Golf Club, Elise continues to fight to prevent ratepayers funds being directed to the construction of the fence.

Elise will also ensure that the interests of the community are factored in to the new Beverley Park Plan of Management and Masterplan, which will be due to be updated in the next term of Council.

Retain Kogarah Park & the Hub in Jubilee Redevelopment

Elise will fight to protect Kogarah Park and the Hub, at 49 English St, in any future Jubilee Stadium redevelopment.

Kogarah Park is a historic park, in fact it was dedicated as the first public park in Kogarah. It is utilised by students from Carlton South Public School, Kogarah Community Services and the general Public and is one of the few open park spaces in the densely-populated Kogarah.

The Hub, at 49 English St, is the home of Kogarah Community Services, who provide many valuable services to the community.

For the benefit of the local community, both the park and the Hub should be preserved in any future development of Jubilee Stadium.

Carss Park Pool Anzac Memorial

Save Carss Park Pool

Elise has been part of the core campaign team fighting to Save Carss Park Pool. We have had many successes in the past 3 years, so far preventing Georges River Council from demolishing Kogarah War Memorial Pool, with no plans in place to replace it.

However, there has been a bloc of 7 Councillors who continue to vote to demolish Carss Park Pool, against the wishes of the community, against the wishes of the 11,700 people who signed a petition to save the pool and against more than 2,000 people who have signed a pledge to Save Carss Park Pool and Save Todd Park. The Carss Park Pool has been the biggest single issue since the formation of Georges River Council and will be one of the biggest issues at the Sept 2021 elections.

Be sure to ask potential candidates what their position is on Carss Park Pool before you vote.
